Acuerdo de Schengen. Impacto en el turismo europeo

Abstract

RESUMEN: El Acuerdo de Schengen permite a la mayoría de los ciudadanos portadores de un pasaporte europeo viajar a cualquier lugar dentro de la Unión Europea, lo cual beneficiaría al turismo. Además, permite a sus portadores viajar a prácticamente cualquier país del mundo sin necesidad de un visado. Sin embargo, los ciudadanos que no pertenecen a la Unión Europea no disponen de estas facilidades y han de realizar trámites para poder viajar a los países europeos, lo cual probablemente tiene un impacto negativo en el turismo internacional. Este estudio revisa el Acuerdo de Schengen desde el nacimiento de la Unión Europea a través de sus políticas turísticas y teniendo en cuenta su impacto en el turismo europeo e internacional. El principal objetivo es analizar el Visado Schengen así como el conocimiento que la población mundial tiene sobre los requisitos para su obtención. Para ello se ha realizado una amplia encuesta a nivel mundial.

ABSTRACT: The Schengen Agreement allows most European passport holders to travel anywhere in the European Union, which potentially benefits tourism. Moreover, it allows its holders to travel to practically any country in the world without the need of a visa. However, for the citizens who do not belong to the European Union these rights are more limited and they need to carry out administrative procedures to be able to travel to European countries, which possibly has a negative impact on international tourism. This dissertation seeks to observe the Schengen Agreement since the birth of the European Union through its tourist policies and taking into account its impact on European and international tourism. The main objective of this study is that of analysing the application process for Schengen Visa as well as determining the world's population awareness of the requirements needed to obtain it. The means to achieve these goals will be focused on the results from an extensive survey carried out worldwide.
