Turismo sostenible y cambio climático en Cantabria

Abstract

RESUMEN: El cambio climático es uno de los problemas más importantes a los que se va a tener que enfrentar el ser humano, puesto que todo lo que realizamos día a día contribuye a mejorarlo o empeorarlo y está en nuestra mano cambiar nuestras acciones por un planeta más sano tanto para las generaciones actuales como las futuras. El turismo, como actividad económica que mueve millones de personas anualmente, debe adaptarse a los cambios e intentar erradicar o minimizar lo mayor posible la contribución negativa que este hace al planeta y al medio ambiente. Cantabria, a pesar de ser una región no cercana a los principales focos de mayor peligro, debe comenzar a idear planes y actividades para reducir su huella de carbono y poder superar en un futuro los efectos de cambio climático. Además, a pesar de no basar su economía en el turismo como otras comunidades, este sector puede y debe contribuir a estos cambios para asegurarse un futuro mejor.

ABSTRACT: Climate change is one of the biggest issues that humans will have to face, as everything we do in a daily basis contributes to that problem, making it better or worse depending on our actions. We, as human beings, are the only ones who are able to change this behavior in order to get a healthier and better planet, both for ourselves and future generations. Tourism, as an economic activity that is able to make people go from one place to another of the world annually, must adapt to these changes and try as hard as it can to mitigate the negative impact it has for the environment and the world as a whole. Cantabria, even though it is not one of the most endangered places should start planning how to reduce its carbon footprint and how to overcome the future effects of climate change. Despite not basing its economy in tourism as many other areas do, this industry can contribute in making things better so that future comes in a better way.
