Camino de Santiago. Plan de dinamización turística del “camino olvidado”

Abstract

RESUMEN: Con el nombre de “Camino Olvidado” se conoce actualmente a la variante del Camino de Santiago que atraviesa la montaña Palentina. Comienza en Bilbao y termina en Villafranca del Bierzo, atravesando las provincias de Vizcaya, Burgos, Cantabria, Palencia y León. El objetivo de este estudio es destacar el potencial de esta ruta para su inclusión en la promoción del Camino de Santiago. El “Camino Olvidado” puede aportar más mejoras en la economía y el turismo de estas zonas si los peregrinos se alojan en sus albergues, y utilizan las infraestructuras. Para ello he elaborado un plan de dinamización con el fin de crear interés sobre esta sección del Camino. Además, presentaré los resultados obtenidos de la realización de encuestas a peregrinos que estaban haciendo la ruta y de entrevistas a responsables de ayuntamientos y alojamientos.

ABSTRACT: The name "Forgotten Way" is how the variant of the Way of Saint James which crosses the Palentina mountain is currently known as. It begins in Bilbao and ends in Villafranca del Bierzo, crossing the provinces of Vizcaya, Burgos, Cantabria, Palencia and León. The aim of this study is to understand the potential route for its inclusion within the promotion of the Way of Saint James. The "Forgotten Way" can bring further improvements to the economy and tourism of these areas if the pilgrims stay in their hostels and make use of the infrastructure. In order to do this, I have created a tourism product dynamization plan to attract interest in this section of the Way. Furthermore, I am presenting results from a survey carried out among pilgrims who were travelling along this route, as well as data obtained from interviews with council officials and hostel owners and managers.
