Análisis de los medios de transporte y su incidencia en el turismo de Cantabria

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo tiene como finalidad analizar la importancia de la relación existente entre el Turismo como medio generador de empleo y desarrollo, con los medios de transporte con los que cuenta una determinada región. En el caso particular del presente trabajo, se toma a la comunidad autónoma de Cantabria como zona de estudio. Para ello, se realizó una revisión bibliográfica donde se exponen los antecedentes históricos en materia de transporte de la región; además de experiencias propias de familiares y personas cercanas quienes también ofrecieron información clave sobre cómo ha ido evolucionando el desarrollo turístico con la mejora del sistema de transporte en todas sus variantes: Aéreo, marítimo y terrestre. La orografía por su parte, fue una variable considerada también durante el proceso de investigación, puesto que debido a su naturaleza ha sido muy difícil aun a día de hoy, construir vías de comunicación terrestre en algunas regiones que permitan el acceso a Santander, Torrelavega y otros puntos de interés, así como también hacia otras provincias colindantes como Burgos, Palencia, León, entre otras. Adicionalmente, cada medio de transporte es explicado para poder aclarar su incidencia en el turismo de Cantabria. Se han enumerado según importancia y antigüedad cada medio de transporte presente en la ciudad de Santander y cómo ha afectado al turismo a lo largo de la historia de la ciudad.

ABSTRACT: The present paper work has been focused on determining the importance in the relationship between Tourism as a means of generating employment and development with all kind of transportation that a specific region has. In the particular case of the present investigation, the autonomous community of Cantabria is taken as a study area. For it, an extensive and deep bibliographical research was carried out so that expose the historical background on transportation in the region; in addition to relatives’ experiences and close people who also offered key information on how tourism development has evolved hand in hand with the improvement of the transport system in all its variants: air, sea and land. The topography, on the other hand, was a variable considered also during the research process, since due to its nature it has been very difficult even today, to build terrestrial communication roads in some regions that allow access to important cities of the community, such as Santander and other points of interest, as well as other neighboring provinces such as Burgos, Palencia, León, and others. Additionally, each means of transport is analyzed and observed from the technical point of view in order to clarify its impact on tourism in Cantabria. The means of transport found in the city of Santander and how it has affected tourism throughout the history of the city have been listed according to its importance and origins and how it has affected tourism throughout the history of the city.
