RESUMEN: Este TFG tiene como objetivo principal investigar el fenómeno del volunturismo: establecer el impacto que tiene en las comunidades receptoras, así como dar a conocer las problemáticas existentes en el entorno y poder mostrar, al final de la investigación, cómo y hacia qué dirección deben dirigirse estas actividades. A lo largo del estudio se aclara la diferencia que hay entre el término “voluntariado” y “volunturismo”, pese a que en términos de tipología compartan los mismos campos. Para poder comprender el origen del volunturismo se expone la evolución del voluntariado a lo largo de la historia para después mostrar cómo fue apareciendo y cogiendo relevancia el volunturismo. A través de encuestas, se mostrará, entre otros aspectos, hasta dónde cree la sociedad que puede afectar el volunturismo a una comunidad o a su cultura y lo compararemos con el impacto real que puede llegar a tener. Además, una entrevista a una empresa involucrada a nivel global mostrará cómo gestionar correctamente estas problemáticas para procurar obtener los verdaderos beneficios del volunturismo. Finalmente, la conclusión tratará de concienciar a los lectores de cómo actuar para asegurarnos de que nuestra solidaridad generará un impacto positivo.
ABSTRACT: The main aim of this TFG is to investigate the phenomenon of voluntourism: the impact it produces on the host communities and the often controversial issues associated with this activity. This study seeks to demonstrate how this activity should be managed and the direction it should be taking for the future. The dissertation initially clarifies the difference between the apparently similar terms of “volunteering” and “voluntourism”. The origins and development of voluntourism are presented, highlighting the way in which it has gained its current levels of prestige and resonance. Surveys conducted for this study will show, among other aspects, to what extent society is concerned about the impact that voluntourism may have on a community or its culture, and we will contrast this degree of concern with the impact that voluntourism really produces. In addition, an interview with an executive of an international organisation involved in this field will shed light on how to manage these issues successfully with a view to obtaining the real benefits of voluntourism. The conclusion attempts to make readers aware of how they should act to ensure that their solidarity will have a positive impact on host communities.
