RESUMEN: El dibujo de arquitectura es un tema de debate entre los teóricos de la Historia del arte y la Historia de la arquitectura, y desde distintas ópticas se trata de asignarle un lugar dentro de una categoría convencional: teoría del arte, testimonio documental, herramienta técnica, lenguaje gráfico, lenguaje simbólico y filosófico o simple material informativo. En este trabajo, considerando todos los puntos de vista, lo vamos a tratar como un elemento básico en el desarrollo del proceso arquitectónico de construcción, como una expresión artística de larga duración y, sobre todo, como Patrimonio artístico con valor propio, a través del legado de dibujos de arquitectura de Javier González de Riancho Gómez. La obra del arquitecto cántabro es reconocida como una importante contribución al establecimiento, durante la primera mitad del siglo XX, del denominado “Regionalismo Montañés” y también por su referencia a la arquitectura inglesa y alemana hasta desembocar en el racionalismo, de todo lo cual hay testimonio en sus numerosos dibujos. Al estudiarlo desde el propio archivo personal de Javier González de Riancho, conservado por su familia, se abre la posibilidad de valorarlo como Patrimonio.
ABSTRACT: Architectural drawing is an issue of debate between the arts and architecture history theorists and it is tried to assign a place inside a conventional category for it from different optics: theory of the art, documental testimony, technical tool, graphic language, symbolic and philosophical language or plain informative material. In this work all points of view have been taken into consideration and we are going to treat it as a basic element in the development of the architectural process of build, as an enduring artistic expression and as documental and biographic heritage, and above all, as artistic heritage with its own value through the legacy of Javier González de Riancho Gómez's architectural drawings. The work of the Cantabrian architect is acknowledged as an important contribution to the establishment, through the first half of the XXth century, to the known as "Regionalismo Montañés" and also for its references to the English and German architecture up until lead into the Rationalism, of all of which there is testimony it his numerous drawings. While studying from Javier González de Riancho’s personal archive, curated by his family, the opportunity to value it as heritage opens.
