El comportamiento cíclico del consumo en España durante las recesiones recientes

Abstract

RESUMEN: En este trabajo se describe el comportamiento de la economía española durante el período 1990-2018. A través del análisis de las tres recesiones, una en los años 90 y dos en los años 2000, realizado mediante el análisis descriptivo de los principales agregados macro: producción, consumo, inversión y balanza comercial además de los sectores productivos y mercado laboral con el fin de comparar el comportamiento de la economía en ambas recesiones poniendo especial énfasis en la magnitud de la recesión de los años 90 con las recesiones de los años 2000. Además, se discute la relación entre la caída del consumo agregado y la caída de la renta disponible de los hogares a la luz de la teoría sobre consumo. Para ello, se presta atención también a lo ocurrido con la riqueza de los hogares, las transferencias por parte de los gobiernos a los hogares y la confianza y expectativas de los consumidores.
