Análisis de Hertz y Meliá Hotels ante el concurso de acreedores, tras el COVID-19

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este trabajo realiza un análisis comparativo del posicionamiento financiero de las empresas Hertz Global Holdings y Meliá Hotels International SA ante el concurso de acreedores o procedimiento de insolvencia, y la incidencia del COVID-19. El estudio, se desarrolla en el ámbito de la legislación concursal española y estadounidense. El objetivo principal se ha centrado en analizar el impacto provocado por el COVID-19 en la empresa Hertz Global Holdings, compañía estadounidense perteneciente al sector turístico, quién se declaró en bancarrota en Mayo del 2020. Así como de la empresa española Meliá Hotels, quién a su vez se ha visto afectada por la pandemia, sin llegar a tener aun que declarar el concurso de acreedores. La mayor parte de la información de este trabajo se ha recogido en Internet, ya que Hertz es una multinacional internacional. Además de consultar la Ley Concursal de 2003 y el Texto Refundido de la Ley Concursal que entró en vigor el anterior 1 de septiembre del 2020 y la Ley de Quiebras de EEUU. A su vez, se han proporcionado tablas, datos y ratios relativos a la empresa Hertz, así como de Meliá hotels International, para conocer sus estados, riesgos, problemas de financiación o solvencia.También se ha incluido un análisis bursátil de ambas compañías. Así como, dos informes finales basados en los ratios elaborados, que establecen la situación previa y final tanto económica como financiera de ambas compañías.

ABSTRTACT:This work carries out a comparative analysis of the financial position of the companies Hertz Global Holdings and Meliá Hotels International SA due to the bankruptcy of the first one, caused by COVID-19. It is developed in the field of Spanish and American bankruptcy legislation.The main objective has focused on analyzing the impact caused by COVID-19 on the company Hertz Global Holdings, an US company belonging to the tourism sector, which declared bankruptcy in May 2020. As well as the Spanish company Meliá Hotels, who in turn, it has been affected bu the pandemic, without even having to declare bankruptcy.Most of the information in this work has been collected on the Internet, as Hertz is an international multinational. In addition to consulting the Bankruptcy Law, the consolidated text of the Bankruptcy Law that entered in action on the previous September 1, 2020 and the US Bankruptcy Law. In turn, tables, data and ratios related to the Hertz company, as well as Meliá Hotels International, have been provided to know their status, risks, financing problems or solvency.Has been included also a stock market analysis of both companies. As well as, final reports based on the ratios prepared, which establish the previous and final economic and financial situation of the both.
