Sobre la fibración de Hopf y la paralelización de esferas

Abstract

RESUMEN: La fibración de Hopf y la paralelización de esferas son dos temas en los cuales las álgebras de división normadas R, C, H y O subyacen de forma muy notable, y su estudio arroja bellas conexiones entre campos aparentemente alejados, como la teoría de álgebras y la topología diferencial. Con el objetivo de comprender mejor ambos temas y mostrar algunas de las conexiones mencionadas, en este trabajo se estudian, por un lado, diferentes construcciones de la fibración clásica de Hopf y su generalización a esferas de otras dimensiones; por otro lado, se construyen de forma explícita paralelizaciones y estructuras casi complejas de esferas, así como paralelizaciones del producto de éstas.

ABSTRACT: The Hopf fibration and the parallelization of spheres are two topics in which the normed division algebras R, C, H and O underlie very noticeably, and their study throws beautiful connections between seemingly distant fields, such as theory of algebras and differential topology. With the aim of better understanding both issues and of showing some of the aforementioned connections, in this dissertation we study, on the one hand, different constructions of the classical Hopf fibration and its generalization to spheres of other dimensions; on the other hand, we explicitly construct parallelizations and almost complex structures of spheres as well as parallelizations of their product.
