RESUMEN En este trabajo se pretende realizar un acercamiento al pensamiento de Agustín de Hipona desde una perspectiva política. Para ello resultará indispensable enfrentarse al personaje haciendo, en primer lugar, un pequeño repaso de su perfil biográfico. En segundo lugar, se realizará un acercamiento al momento histórico y al contexto sociopolítico en el que se enmarcan su figura y trayectoria religiosa y cultural. En tercer lugar, se analizarán con más profundidad algunos acontecimientos que implicaron el norte de África en el siglo IV, y que influyeron en la obra teológica y en la acción eclesiástica de nuestro protagonista. Seguidamente se mostrará, a través del comentario de algunos pasajes de sus obras, el desarrollo de las ideas que tienen una relación directa con su concepción de lo que es la acción política y lo político. Estas ideas aparecen fijadas en torno a conceptos clave como: Pueblo, Amor, Justicia, Estado, Sociedad, Paz, etc. Para finalizar, se realizará un esbozo de las interpretaciones que se dieron de sus escritos en momentos posteriores a la vida del autor, además de las implicaciones que tuvieron dichas interpretaciones para el futuro de la iglesia de Occidente en su relación con los diferentes Reinos Cristianos.
ABSTRACT This paper seeks to analyze Augustine-of-Hippo’s teachings from a political perspective. In order to do so, it will be essential to face said character, first of all, by making a small review of his biographical profile. Then, we will approach the socio-political context in which the historical moment it belonged to is framed. We will deal with the particular phenomena that occurred in North Africa that determined, in many cases, both work and course of action of our character. By reading his works we will show the main ideas of his line of thought, which are closely related to the concepts of politics and policy. In his work, these ideas are fixed to key concepts: People, Love, Justice, Sin, State, Society, Peace, Libido, etc. Finally, we will draft the various interpretations that were given to his ideas after the author’s passing; and the implications these interpretations had in the future of the church in the West, amid the different christian worlds.
