Federica Montseny: una anarquista en el Ministerio de Sanidad.

Abstract

RESUMEN: El objetivo del presente trabajo es la recuperación de la figura de la escritora, publicista y política anarquista Federica Montseny, ahondando especialmente en su período a cargo del Ministerio de Sanidad y Asistencia Social durante el segundo gobierno de Largo Caballero, en el marco de la guerra civil española. A través de su biografía, el análisis de sus obras y pensamiento y, sobre todo, de sus políticas en el Ministerio, se pretende realizar una aproximación a la realidad del momento, la situación de las mujeres de su tiempo y el contexto de avances sanitarios y científicos, así como a la problemática concreta de la salud pública durante la guerra civil. La presencia de una mujer en el gobierno, por primera vez en España, y de que, además, fuera una activista libertaria, representaba una doble particularidad añadida a la situación de excepcionalidad que suponía la guerra civil, y que justificaba la participación de los anarquistas en el gobierno.

ABSTRACT: The objective of the present work is the recovery of the anarchist writer, publicist and politician Federica Montseny, especially delving into her period in charge of the Ministry of Health and Social Assistance during the second government of Largo Caballero, in the framework of the Spanish civil war. Through her biography, the analysis of her Works and thought and, especially, her politics in the Ministry, it’s posible to make an approach to the reality of the moment, the women’s situation in her time, the context of health and scientific advances, as well as the problems of public health during the civil war. The presence of a woman in the government, for the first time in Spain, and the fact that she was also an anarchist activist, represented a double feature added to the exceptional situation caused by the civil war, which justified the participation of the anarchists in the government.
