La expresión gráfica finipaleolítica en el Suroeste Europeo: ¿Ocaso o transformación?

Abstract

RESUMEN: La expresión gráfica es una de las evidencias más espectaculares del registro arqueológico atribuido al Paleolítico superior. Tradicionalmente se ha planteado una asimilación progresiva hasta un momento de plenitud –Magdaleniense- de las pautas artísticas durante dicho periodo, desapareciendo de manera abrupta al final del mismo. En la actualidad, los nuevos descubrimientos e investigaciones proponen un arte “pleno” desde los inicios del periodo, incluso desde momentos anteriores. Por el contrario, el final de la actividad gráfica no ha sido revalorado en términos similares, a pesar de los cada vez más numerosos hallazgos de evidencias gráficas en contextos finipaleolíticos.

ABSTRACT: Artistic expression is one of the most interesting archaeological evidences associated to the Upper Palaeolithic. The scientific community has traditionally stated that there was a progressive adoption of artistic patterns all the way up to the Late Magdalenian. During this time, the artistic patters would have disappeared abruptly. The latest research points that there was a fully developed art expression since the beginning of the Magdalenian period. On a different note, the research hasn’t updated the end period of this art even though there have been numerous art findings in sites dated as Late Palaeolithic.
