Tecnología Blockchain en la logística portuaria

Abstract

El presente trabajo pretende ser una introducción al uso de la tecnología Blockchain en el sector de la logística portuaria. El objetivo de este no consiste únicamente en mostrar las nociones básicas de esta nueva tecnología, sino que focaliza su atención en la aplicación de dicha tecnología en la cadena de suministro y en la logística portuaria. En la primera parte se realiza una introducción previa a la tecnología Blockchain, de forma que se empieza presentando de manera simple como surgió el Blockchain, cuáles son los elementos básicos que forman la cadena de bloques, como es su funcionamiento y el tipo de redes existentes. Posteriormente, aunque de manera introductoria, se profundiza más en cuales son los beneficios y limitaciones que presenta esta tecnología disruptiva, así como las aplicaciones o sectores donde se ha empezado a introducir. En la segunda parte del trabajo, ya no se habla del Blockchain de forma genérica, sino que se estudia su implementación en la logística portuaria. Se empieza definiendo qué es la logística y la cadena de suministro, para profundizar, posteriormente, en cómo están estructuradas las terminales de contenedores portuarias y las relaciones que se presentan entre los agentes de la cadena de suministro. La última parte del trabajo muestra algunas de las plataformas Blockchain implementadas en el sector portuario, desde las más importantes, las cuales se centran en optimizar la cadena de suministro, hasta las más innovadoras, las cuales resuelven las ineficiencias dentro de las terminales de contenedores.

Abstract: The present paper intends to be an introduction to the use of Blockchain technology in port logistics. The objective of this paper is not only to show the basic notions of this new technology, but also to focus on the application of this technology in the supply chain and in port logistics. In the first part, a previous introduction to the Blockchain is made, so that it starts by presenting in a simple way how the Blockchain came about, what are the basic elements that form the Blockchain, how it works and the type of networks that exist. Later, although in an introductory way, we will go deeper into the benefits and limitations of this disruptive technology, as well as the applications or sectors where it has been introduced. In the second part of the paper, the Blockchain is no longer discussed in a generic way, but its implementation in port logistics is studied. It begins by defining what logistics and the supply chain are, and then goes on to examine how the port container terminals are structured and the relationships between the agents in the supply chain. The last part of the work shows some of the Blockchain platforms implemented in the port sector, from the most important, which are focused on optimizing the supply chain, to the most innovative, which solve the inefficiencies within the container terminals.
