RESUMEN El objetivo principal de este trabajo es analizar la antroponimia medieval de la villa de Santander, clasificando los nombres propios locativos y los antropónimos de origen extranjero de los habitantes del entorno urbano que son mencionados en la documentación fechada entre 1172 y 1504. De acuerdo con los resultados obtenidos, pretendemos hacer una aproximación a los orígenes de los linajes, de los miembros del común y de la clerecía que habitaron la villa y también poder precisar los fenómenos de movilidad geográfica que tuvieron como destino a Santander en los siglos finales de la Edad Media. Junto a los resultados de este análisis onomástico, complementados con la bibliografía disponible sobre la sociedad de la villa y sobre la identificación personal en época bajomedieval, pretendemos aportar información relevante acerca de la composición social del Santander medieval

ABSTRACT Our main goal in this essay is to analyze the medieval anthroponomy of the town of Santander, classifying the locative surnames and the anthroponyms of foreign extraction of the inhabitants of the urban setting that are mentioned in the documentation dated between 1172 and 1504. Based on the results obtained, we intend to make an approximation to the origins of the lineages, the common people and the clergy who inhabited the town and we also want to specify the phenomenon of geographical mobility with Santander as destination in the last centuries of the Middle Ages. Along with the results of this onomastic analysis, supplemented with available bibliography about the town’s society and the personal identification in the Late Middle Ages, we intend to provide relevant information about the social composition of medieval Santander.
