¿Transformaciones? de las representaciones sociales de lo gitano en la literatura infantil (1980/2019)

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente escrito pretende analizar la representación que sobre la etnia gitana se tiene en la literatura infantil y, específicamente, en los cuentos. Este estudio se realiza con el fin de analizar el tipo de imagen que se traslada de la etnia gitana a la primera infancia. Paralelamente, se señalarán las posibles transformaciones que se han producido en la literatura seleccionada con el paso de los años, concretamente, el intervalo 1980 – 2019. Para ello, se hace una aproximación histórica tanto a la etnia gitana como a la relevancia de la literatura infantil en la etapa de Educación Infantil y la presencia gitana en la misma. El análisis se llevará a cabo con una metodología de análisis de contenido en 10 cuentos infantiles publicados en tres periodos históricos diferentes, 1980-1999, 2000-2009 y 2010-2019. Las conclusiones más destacadas son la evidente estigmatización que se da de la etnia gitana en todos los cuentos, teniendo esta cultura como subdesarrollada y anclada en sus tradiciones, y la escasa transformación de las representaciones sociales de lo gitano en los últimos 40 años.

ABSTRACT: This research paper aims to analyze the Gypsy ethnicity representation in children`s literature, specifically in short stories. It has been done to explicate the given image of the Gypsy ethnicity in early childhood. Simultaneously, I will state the posible transformations which have happened in the selected literature as the years have gone by, specifically, the interval between 1980 and 2019. To accomplish that, I will make a historical reference of the Gypsy ethnicity and the importance of children´s literatura during kindergarten education, as well as the presence of such ethnicity in it. By analyzing 10 children`s books published in three different periods, form 1980 to 1999, from 2000 to 2009 and from 2010 to 2019, with a methodology based on the substance detailed analysis. The main findings are the evidence of the stigmatization of the gypsy ethnicity in all stories. It shows this ethnicity as an underdeveloped and clingged to their traditions culture and the low transformation of the social representation of the Gypsy in last 40 years.
