Ser mujer y ser enfermera

Abstract

RESUMEN: La Enfermería es una profesión que socialmente está asociada al sexo femenino, una cuestión, que no solo ha condicionado su reconocimiento sino que ha modificado también sus competencias y el desarrollo de su propio ejercicio. A lo largo de este trabajo se ha estudiado la relación del género con el eje central de la disciplina enfermera, el cuidado, desde la óptica de los estereotipos sociales y culturales ligados al hecho de ser mujer y en qué medida estos han desdibujado el rol profesional. Así mismo, ya en el contexto de nuestro país, puede apreciarse, que a pesar del gran avance que ha supuesto el reconocimiento pleno de la Enfermería como disciplina académica, la perspectiva de género sigue siendo una limitación importante en acceso a los cargos de gestión de alta responsabilidad. El avance será real, cuando verdaderamente se tenga en cuenta, que ser mujer y enfermera, en ningún caso tiene un perfil “doméstico”, dado que nuestra titulación nos capacita para asumir el liderazgo de salud sin condiciones

ABSTRACT: Nursing is a job that is socially associated with the female sex, an issue that has not only conditioned its acknowledgement but has also modified its competencies and the development of its own practice. Throughout this project, I have studied the relationship of gender with the core of the nursing discipline, care, from the viewpoint of social and cultural stereotypes associated to being a woman and to what extent these have blurred the professional role. Likewise, in the context of our country, we can see that in spite of the great progress that the full recognition of nursing as an academic discipline has brought, the gender perspective remains an important barrier when accessing positions of high responsibility. This progress will be real when it is truly considered that the fact of being a woman and a nurse in no case has a “domestic” profile, as our qualification enables us to assume leadership in the health field with no conditions.
