La Antigua Roma en las aulas de Secundaria: desarrollo histórico, problemas y posibilidades

Abstract

RESUMEN La civilización romana es considerada, junto con la griega, cuna de la civilización occidental. Sin embargo, Roma y su legado se han visto postergados a un puesto marginal dentro del sistema educativo actual, dando como resultado un conocimiento escaso e inexacto acerca de esta cultura. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo realizar un repaso al tratamiento que las diferentes leyes educativas españolas han concedido a la enseñanza de la civilización romana, analizando su situación actual en las aulas de Secundaria y la importancia de su estudio. Finalmente, se incluye una propuesta didáctica en la cual quedan contempladas una serie de herramientas con las que trabajar esta disciplina en el aula, demostrándose así la importancia de la Historia de Roma a la hora de formar ciudadanos críticos.

ABSTRACT The Roman civilization is considered, along with the Greek, the cradle of the Western civilization. However, Rome and its legacy have been relegated to a marginal position within the current education system, resulting in little or no knowledge of this culture. The present work aims to review the treatment that the different Spanish education laws have given to teaching the Roman civilization, analyzing its current situation at secondary education levels and highlighting the importance of its study. Finally, this work includes a didactic proposal in which the use of a set of tools is considered to impart this discipline in the classroom, showing the importance of the History of Rome in the formation of critical citizens.
