¿Hacia una perspectiva aconfesional? La asignatura de religión ante una España plural

Abstract

RESUMEN En España, la asignatura de religión en la escuela pública tiene un carácter confesional, lo cual ha causado fuertes críticas desde sectores opuestos a la presencia de la Iglesia católica en las aulas. En este ensayo, buscamos ir más allá del binomio habitual confesionalidad-laicismo en este debate educativo. Presentamos para ello la situación de un mundo cambiante en lo religioso pero que se aleja de una secularización “real”, de una España cada vez más plural y de la que creemos que debería ser su respuesta desde las instituciones educativas. Para ello, examinaremos la realidad de la sociedad española a la que dicha asignatura va dirigida e intentaremos dilucidar de qué manera deberíamos acercarnos al fenómeno religioso desde las aulas.

ABSTRACT In Spain the subject of Religion in state schools has a denominational approach, which has caused strong criticism from sectors opposed to the presence ot the Catholic Church in the classroom. In this essay we seek to go beyond the usual binomial of confessionality and secularism in this educational discusión. To this end, we present the situation of a changing world in the religious sphere, but one that is moving away from real secularization and the reality of a Spain that is becoming more and more plural. As well as what we believe should be the response from educational institutions. To do so, we will examine the reality of the Spanish society, to which this subject is adressed, and we will attempt to clarify how we should approach the religious phenomenon in the classroom.
