Fármacos Biológicos en asma bronquial y urticaria crónica. Experiencia del Servicio De Alergología del Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla

Abstract

RESUMEN : Un elevado porcentaje de personas asmáticas y/o con urticaria crónica (hasta un 50% de los pacientes, en cada una de ellas) no tienen controlada su enfermedad a pesar de existir una adecuada adherencia terapéutica. Estos enfermos han de someterse a multitud de estudios con fármacos ineficaces sin resultados orientativos ni control de los síntomas, disminuyendo por ello considerablemente su calidad de vida. Son a estas personas a las que se les ofrecen nuevas alternativas, entre las que destacan las terapias biológicas, que tienen la capacidad de actuar sobre vías patogénicas específicas previamente determinadas según el perfil individual de alteraciones fisiopatológicas, posibilitando la prescripción de un tratamiento personalizado. Así pues, este estudio es un análisis retrospectivo de 31 pacientes seguidos en el Servicio de Alergología del Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla con asma grave y/o urticaria crónica que son tratados con fármacos biológicos. Se ha llevado a cabo el registro y análisis de sus características clínicas y demográficas (buscando patrones comunes y posibles influyentes en el control de la enfermedad), así como los datos fisiopatológicos de cada paciente antes de comenzar la terapia monoclonal, al mes, a los seis meses y al año de haber iniciado el tratamiento biológico, para valorar su respuesta al mismo.

ABSTRACT : A high percentage of people with asthma or chronic urticaria or both (up to 50% of patients, in each one of them) can’t manage their medical condition despite an adecuate therapeutic adherence. These patients have to undergo multiple studies using ineffective drugs without any indicative results or symptom control, thereby considerably reducing their life quality. These people are often offered new alternatives, including biological therapies, which have the capacity to act on specific pathogenic pathways previously determined according to their individual profile of pathophysiological changes, making it possible to prescribe personalized treatments to them. Therefore, this study is a retrospective analysis of 31 patients followed at the Allergology Service of the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital diagnosed with severe asthma or chronic urticaria or both and treated with biological drugs. The registry and analysis of their clinical and demographic characteristics has been carried out (looking for common patterns and possible influencers in the control of the disease), as well as the pathophysiological data of each patient before starting the monoclonal therapy, and one month, six months and one year after the beginning of the biological treatment, in order to assess their response to it.
