Abstract

Este trabajo trata de reflexionar, treinta años más tarde, sobre la organización del territorio burgalés expuesta en la obra de Gonzalo Martínez Díez: Pueblos y alfoces burgaleses de la repoblación; un volumen de gran calidad científica dentro del ámbito de la geografía histórica. Su propuesta fundamental se basa en la triada alfoz-castillo-tenente aplicable a todos los alfoces de la “repoblación” en el marco cronológico del siglo IX al XII. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es comprobar la veracidad de dicho modelo a través del análisis del alfoz de Clunia; aunque, dada la limitación de un Trabajo de Fin de Master, me voy a centrar especialmente en el estudio de los castillos, torres y fortalezas, y el papel que desempeñan en la organización social del espacio, así como su posible relación con el incastellamento.

This work tries to reflect, thirty years later, on the organization of the Burgalese territory exposed in the work of Gonzalo Martínez Díez: Pueblos y alfoces burgaleses de la repoblación; a volume of great scientific quality within the scope of the historical geography. Its fundamental proposal is based on the alfoz-castle-tenente triad applicable to all the alfoces of the "repopulation" in a chronological framework from the 9th to the 12th century. The main objective of this work is to check the veracity of this model through the analysis of the Clunia’s alfoz; although, given the limitation of a Master’s Final Work, I am going to focus especially on the on the study of the castles, towers and fortresses, and the role they play in the social organization of space, as well as their possible relationship with the incastellamento
