Crecimiento económico y desarrollo humano en España en el siglo XX: ¿convergencia con Europa del Norte?

Abstract

En este trabajo se estudiará el desarrollo de España durante el siglo XX, más concretamente el periodo comprendido entre 1913 y 2007. Se profundizará en las causas históricas que nos llevaron a lo que hoy es este país y se intentará dar respuesta a si hubo o no una convergencia real con los países más desarrollados del norte de Europa. Se utilizará para ello el ejemplo de Reino Unido como punto de referencia, por ser uno de los iniciadores de la revolución industrial y una de las grandes potencias mundiales el siglo. Se repasarán los principales acontecimientos históricos a nivel político, social y económico acontecidos en el país siguiendo un orden por etapas, lapsos de tiempo que consideramos relevantes y se deben estudiar por separado. Empezando en la Primera Guerra Mundial con el reinado de Alfonso XIII, la república tras su abdicación, los años de la guerra civil gestada durante la república, Los primeros años del franquismo con la 2º guerra mundial sonando de fondo, el milagro económico de los 60, pasando por la crisis del petróleo, a la integración en la UE, para acabar con una época de crecimiento que se toparía de bruces contra la crisis financiera y económica de 2007. Un periodo muy extenso donde tuvieron lugar muchos acontecimientos relevantes, pero no se profundizará mucho ellos, más bien se intentará sintetizar para poder llegar a conclusiones generales sobre el periodo de estudio. Apoyándonos en datos económicos y demográficos, que describen la evolución del desarrollo real en España, intentaremos comprobar si se consiguió la convergencia respecto al norte de Europa, en concreto, con Reino Unido.

This work will study the development of Spain during the twentieth century, more specifically the period between 1913 and 2007. It will deepen the historical causes that led us to what is now this country and try to respond to whether or not there was a real convergence with the most developed countries in northern Europe. The example of the United Kingdom will be used for this as a point of reference, as it is one of the initiators of the industrial revolution and one of the great world powers in the century. The main historical events at the political, social and economic level that occurred in the country will be reviewed following an order in stages, periods of time that we consider relevant and should be studied separately. Beginning in the First World War with the reign of Alfonso XIII, the republic after its abdication, the years of civil war developed during the republic, The first years of Franco with World War 2 playing in the background, the economic miracle of the 60 , through the oil crisis, to the integration into the EU, to end a time of growth that would run into the financial and economic crisis of 2007. A very long period where many relevant events took place, but they will not deepen much, rather try to synthesize to reach general conclusions about the period of study. Relying on economic and demographic data, which describe the evolution of real development in Spain, we will try to verify whether convergence was achieved with respect to northern Europe, specifically, with the United Kingdom.
