Tamaño de aeropuerto y desarrollo urbano: una aplicación al caso español

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo analiza la relación que existe entre los aeropuertos y el crecimiento económico medido como el número de empleos, mediante la construcción de variables instrumentales que permiten medir cómo afecta el tamaño de un aeropuerto al crecimiento del área urbana funcional donde se encuentra ubicado. Para conseguir este objetivo, se ha utilizado una muestra de 70 áreas urbanas funcionales de España y 46 aeropuertos durante el periodo 2010-2017, dichos datos han sido obtenidos de AENA Estadísticas, en el caso de los aeropuertos y del Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas para las áreas urbanas, se ha implementado el método de variables instrumentales, Mínimos Cuadrados en Dos Etapas siguiendo la metodología Nicholas Sheard (2019). Los principales hallazgos del estudio indican que, de acuerdo a la muestra utilizada, si existe una relación positiva entre el tamaño del aeropuerto y el empleo, los índices de vivienda, la población y el número de empresas

ABSTRACT. This paper analyzes the relationship between airports and economic growth, through the construction of instrumental variables that allow measuring how the size of an airport affects the growth of the functional urban area where it is located. To achieve this objective, a sample of 70 functional urban areas of Spain and 46 airports has been used during the period 2010-2017, these data have been obtained from AENA Statistics, in the case of airports and the National Statistics Institute for urban areas, the method of instrumental variables, Two-Stages Least Squares has been implemented following the mehodology of Nicholas Sheard (2019).
