Abstract

RESUMEN: El número e es uno de los números más importantes. En este trabajo se verán varias de sus representaciones y su función exponencial. Además se mostrará una prueba de que es irracional y otra de que es trascendente. También se hará una introducción a las fracciones continuas para posteriormente obtener la de e, y se estudiará algunas aplicaciones de éste número. Para finalizar, se mostrará su computación aproximada por algunas de las representaciones vistas y se introducirán los aproximantes de Padé.

ABSTRACT: The number e is one of the most important numbers. In this work, several of its representations will be shown and its exponential function. In addition, a proof that e is irrational and a proof that e is transcendental will be presented. An introduction to the continuous fractions will also be made to subsequently obtain the continued fraction of e. Some applications of this number will be studied. Finally, methods to compute it using different representations and Padé approximants will be presented.
