La acción educativa y los derechos humanos: repensando el qué y el cómo desde las Ciencias Sociales

Abstract

RESUMEN: La educación en derechos humanos ha sido impulsada por diferentes organismos e institucionales internacionales desde la segunda mitad del siglo XX. A principios del siglo XXI, los principios, objetivos y líneas de actuación proyectados por dichas instituciones tuvieron una tímida acogida en la legislación educativa vigente en el Estado español. El currículo de la materia escolar denominada Ciencias Sociales se ha visto influido por esas tímidas inserciones. Pero, ¿educamos en y para los derechos humanos en las aulas desde las Ciencias Sociales? El estudio de los documentos oficiales y recursos didácticos de un IES santanderino inducen a pensar que el camino a recorrer para el asentamiento de una educación basada en los derechos humanos para la defensa y el respeto de los mismos está por recorrer. ABSTRACT: The human rights education has been driven by different international organizations and institutions from the second half of the twentieth century. In the early twenty-first century, the principles, objectives and action lines projected by these institutions were timidly welcomed by educational legislation of the Spanish State. Social Studies´ curriculum was influenced by those timid insertions. But, do we raise in and for human rights in the classroom from the Social Sciences? The study of official documents and teaching resources of an IES led to believe that the way forward for the establishment of an education based on human rights is still starting. On human rights, we failed.
