Concepciones de los adolescentes sobre la pobreza y la desigualdad: un estudio de caso

Abstract

RESUMEN Este trabajo tiene como objetivo tratar de determinar cuáles son las concepciones de un grupo de adolescentes de diferentes edades pertenecientes a un centro educativo de Cantabria sobre dos de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS): la pobreza y la desigualdad. Para ello se ha diseñado un cuestionario que, además de servir para recoger la información necesaria, puede usarse en si mismo para hacer reflexionar de manera crítica a los estudiantes. Para poder llegar hasta ese punto, comenzaremos elaborando un marco teórico que ejemplifique la necesidad de utilizar la educación formal como un medio desde el que acercar los ODS a la ciudadanía. De esta forma, repasaremos la historia y la evolución de la educación para el desarrollo sostenible (EDS) hasta conformar actualmente una parte central de las estrategias propuestas para lograr alcanzar los ODS. También trataremos de arrojar luz sobre lo que se entiende actualmente por pobreza y desigualdad y conoceremos los retos a los que nos enfrentamos. Una vez definidos los conceptos centrales del trabajo, repasaremos algunos estudios similares sobre las concepciones de los niños y adolescentes en otras partes del mundo.

ABSTRACT This piece of work aims at defining the conceptions that a group of adolescents of different ages from a highschool in Cantabria has on what poverty and inequality means understood as two of the main Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To do so, a questionnaire has been created to gather the necessary information as well as making students think critically. The first step involves a review of literature sources which support the need for formal education as a means to make these SDGs reach citizens. We will go through the history and evolution of sustainable education up to the point where it became a central part of the strategies proposed to achieve the SDGs.We will also try to shed new light on what is currently understood by poverty and inequality and the challenges we face regarding these two SDGs. Once we have defined the central concepts for this study, we will revise similar research works undertaken on children and adolescents in other parts of the world.
