Evolución de los espacios forestales en el entorno del embalse del Ebro (Valle de Campoo, Cantabria).

Abstract

RESUMEN Se aborda el estudio de la evolución de los espacios forestales en el valle de Campoo, en el entorno del embalse del Ebro desde las décadas centrales del siglo XX. Se buscan los cambios producidos en los límites y composición de los espacios forestales en relación con las transformaciones económicas y sociales. En este sentido se observan los principales efectos territoriales de la construcción del embalse y el abandono agrario impulsado por los procesos de urbanización e industrialización, la posterior extensión del monte bajo, la introducción de plantaciones forestales y la recuperación del bosque. Para detectar los cambios señalados y los tiempos en que se producen se realiza una cartografía de cubiertas vegetales y usos del suelo para distintos periodos entre 1946 y la actualidad.

ABSTRACT The study of the evolution of the forest spaces in the Campoo valley, in the environment of the Ebro reservoir from the old power stations of the 20th century, is addressed. The changes in the limits and composition of the spaces in the relationship with economic and social transformations are sought. In this sense, the main territorial effects of the construction of the reservoir and the agricultural abandonment driven by the processes of urbanization and industrialization, the subsequent extension of the scrubland, the introduction of forest plantations and the recovery of the forest are observed. In order to detect the indicated changes and the times in which they take place, a cartography of land uses and vegetation cover for the different periods between 1946 and the present time is carried out.
