Globalización, migraciones, diversidad cultural y educación: una apuesta por la escuela intercultural

Abstract

RESUMEN: El mundo en el que vivimos se encuentra actualmente sujeto a diversos cambios en muchos de sus aspectos. Si atendemos a las dinámicas que entran en juego, las migraciones y la globalización se erigen como dos de los retos fundamentales a los que atender en este siglo XXI. Las dificultades que surgen del creciente carácter pluricultural de las sociedades y de los efectos del mundo globalizado pasan por una respuesta efectiva de la escuela, la institución centrada en la formación de la ciudadanía. El cómo poder adaptarse a esta nueva situación y sus riesgos en la escuela y el crear las condiciones para posibilitar un entendimiento intercultural desde las aulas de ciencias sociales son dos tareas principales a las cuales nos enfrentamos en este trabajo.

ABSTRACT: The world in which we live is now being subject of a great amount of changes in many of its aspects. Looking at the dynamics involved, migrations and the globalization are presented as two main challenges to face in the 21st century. The difficulties born of the new pluricultural social scenario and the effects of the globalized world require a sudden and effective answer from the school as the institution in charge of the citizenship education. How to adapt to the new situation and its risks from school, and the need of create the essential conditions in order to reach an intercultural understanding from the social science subjects are two fundamental tasks for the school of which we talk in this essay.
