La guerra de Flandes: propaganda y leyenda negra española.

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo principal analizar cómo el conflicto que se desarrolló en los Países Bajos contra la Monarquía Católica entre 1566 y 1648 impactó en la configuración de lo que la historiografía ha denominado como «Leyenda Negra Española». Para ello, dentro de la importante producción propagandística, analizaremos textos y fundamentalmente imágenes promovidos desde el bando rebelde hacia la Monarquía, en lo que se ha denominado como la primera «guerra de papel», y cuyos mensajes, con fuertes críticas contra el gobierno y administración españoles, se trasmitieron y se mantuvieron en el tiempo hasta perpetuarse en la memoria colectiva holandesa, contribuyendo así a alimentar la Leyenda Negra Española en Europa hasta la actualidad.

ABSTRACT: The present work has as main objective to analyze how the conflict that developed in the Netherlands against the Catholic Monarchy between 1566 and 1648 influenced the configuration of what historiography has called «Spanish Black Legend». For this, within the important propaganda production, we analyze texts and mainly images promoted from the rebel side towards the Monarchy, in what has been called the first «paper war», and whose messages, with strong criticisms against the spanish government and administration, were transmitted and remained in time until perpetuated in the Dutch collective memory, contributing to increase the Spanish Black Legend in Europe until today.
