La cuestión religiosa desde el constitucionalismo liberal español del siglo XIX.

Abstract

RESUMEN: La Revolución Liberal española que comenzó a inicios del siglo XIX socavó las bases del Antiguo Régimen y, con ello, el statu quo y los privilegios de la Iglesia católica española, dando lugar a un largo y penoso conflicto entre el liberalismo hispano y el catolicismo a lo largo del siglo XIX. El propósito de mi trabajo, por tanto, no el de analizar cuáles fueron los motivos y circunstancias de dicho enfrentamiento sino, más bien, cual fue la consideración de la cuestión religiosa por parte de las tres generaciones del liberalismo español en los diferentes textos constitucionales decimonónicos. Dichas constituciones fueron fundamentales en la construcción de España como Estado Liberal, así como en la configuración de la ciudadanía española.

ABSTRACT: The spanish Liberal Revolution that started at the begining of the XIX century undermined the basis of the Old Regime and, with it, the status quo and privileges of the spanish catholic Church, giving place to a long and arduous conflict between spanish liberalism and catholicism all along the XIX century. Therefore, the purpose of my paper is not to analyze what were the motives and circumstances of such conflict but, rather, what whas the consideration of the religious question from the three generations of spanish liberalism in the different nineteenth century constitutional texts. These constitutions where essential in the construction of Spain as a Liberal State, as well as the shaping of the spanish citizenship.
