La práctica del Hospitum en la Hispania Romana

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo estudiar la práctica del hospitium en la Hispania romana, así como ver su evolución en la península desde época prerromana hasta la aparición del patronato en época altoimperial. Esta institución constituyó sin lugar a dudas uno de los elementos más importantes dentro de las relaciones jurídicas entre Roma y los pobladores indígenas que desde el siglo II a.C. entraron a formar parte del imperio. La práctica del hospitium llevó a la elaboración de unos soportes conocidos como tesserae y tabulae, en los cuales se plasmarán estos pactos de hospitalidad. El motivo por el cual este trabajo se centra en Hispania es por la riqueza arqueológica de soportes de este tipo que se han descubierto desde el siglo XX, siendo el lugar en el que mayor desarrollo experimentó esta institución fuera de Roma.

ABSTRACT: The present work aims to study the practice of hospitium in Roman Hispania, as well as to see its evolution in the peninsula from pre-Roman times to the appearance of the patronage in the high imperial era. This institution was undoubtedly one of the most important elements in the legal relations between Rome and the indigenous settlers that since the second century BC they became part of the empire. The practice of hospitium led to the development of brackets known as tesserae and tabulae, in which these hospitality pacts will be embodied. The reason why this work focuses on Hispania is because of the archeological richness of brackets of this type that have been discovered since the 20th century, being the place where this institution experienced the greatest development outside of Rome.
