Mercaderes y transportistas de las Cuatro Villas (1474-1500)

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este trabajo trata sobre la figura de los mercaderes y transportistas de las Cuatro Villas de la Mar (actual Cantabria) desde la llegada al trono de los Reyes Católicos hasta el comienzo del siglo XVI. En primer lugar, se da una descripción de los aspectos fundamentales de los mercaderes y transportistas de esta región en ese momento determinado. Seguidamente se explica el ámbito geográfico por el que se movieron estos hombres y los productos con los que comerciaron. Más adelante, se comenta la población de mercaderes extranjeros que desempeñaron sus funciones en las Cuatro Villas y se da a conocer aquellos hombres y linajes más importantes que participaron en el comercio de la región. El trabajo finaliza con una exposición de las conclusiones obtenidas, y la bibliografía utilizada para la realización del trabajo.

ABSTRACT: This work deals with the figure of the merchants and transporters of the Cuatro Villas de la Mar (now Cantabria) since the arrival of the Catholic kings until the beginning of the 16th century. First, there is a description of the fundamental aspects of the merchants and transporters of this region at that particular moment. Next, we explain the geographic scope by which these men moved and the products with which they traded. Later, the population of foreign merchants who performed their duties in the Cuatro Villas is discussed. Next, it is made known the most important men and lineages that participated in the commerce of the region. At finally with an exposition of the conclusions obtained, finally the bibliography used to carry out the work.
