Clima y turismo en el parque de la naturaleza de Cabárceno

Abstract

RESUMEN: El Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabárceno es un referente turístico a nivel nacional, recibiendo más de medio millón de visitantes al año, y constituye un ejemplo claro de una nueva modalidad turística, el turismo de naturaleza activo, que se desarrolla al aire libre. El propósito de este trabajo es caracterizar la actividad recreativa en el Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabárceno y determinar en qué medida está limitada por las condiciones atmosféricas. Para ello, se contrasta la percepción subjetiva proporcionada por encuestas realizadas in situ a los visitantes con un análisis estadístico, relacionando el número de visitantes a dichas instalaciones con datos meteorológicos. Las características de la actividad turística en el Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabárceno son representativas de las condiciones generales del turismo en Cantabria, tanto en lo que hace referencia a su evolución temporal como al tipo de visitante (procedencia, duración de la estancia, alojamiento). Se constata, sin embargo, que las condiciones atmosféricas sólo son un factor limitante durante la primavera (Semana Santa), apreciándose una contradicción entre la importancia subjetiva atribuida a dichas condiciones, en la que además se aprecian diferentes sensibilidades en función de la región de procedencia, y el comportamiento real de los visitantes.

ABSTRACT: The Natural Park of Cabárceno is a national tourist reference, receiving more than half a million visitors a year. It constitutes a clear example of a new tourism modality, active nature tourism, which takes place outdoors. The purpose of this work is to characterize the recreational activity in the Cabárceno Nature Park and determine to what extent is limited by atmospheric conditions. For this, the subjective perception provided by surveys carried out on site to visitors is contrasted with a statistical analysis, relating the number of visitors to these facilities with meteorological data. The characteristics of the tourist activity in the Cabárceno Nature Park are representative of the general conditions of tourism in Cantabria, both in the temporal reference and in the type of visitor (procedure, length of stay, accommodation). It is noted, however, that atmospheric conditions are only a limiting factor during the spring (Holy Week), there is a contradiction between the importance attributed to the conditions, and different sensitivities are appreciated in the function of the region of origin and the actual behavior of the visitors.
