Revisión sobre la Sedación y los Cuidados Paliativos Enfermeros en el Paciente Crónico Avanzado Terminal

Abstract

RESUMEN: En el presente trabajo, se realiza una revisión bibliográfica, con el objetivo de valorar el estado actual de la sedación y los cuidados paliativos, en el crónico avanzado en fase terminal. Los pacientes que padecen enfermedades crónicas avanzadas, van sufriendo una serie de cambios progresivos en su estado de salud. Esto les supone, ciertas necesidades en los momentos del final de vida. Por tanto, debemos estar preparados, no solo para realizar técnicas como la sedación paliativa, una de las más utilizadas en éstos, en fase terminal, sino además también estar dispuestos a cubrir todas aquellas necesidades que vayan surgiendo, a lo largo de las distintas fases de la enfermedad, empezando por la preventiva. Para ello es importante establecer unos planes sólidos y claros, a partir de los cuales, los profesionales sanitarios, entre ellos el equipó de enfermería, puedan ofrecer unos cuidados óptimos abarcando de forma integral y multidisciplinar al paciente.

ABSTRACT: In the present work, a bibliographic review is carried out, with the aim of assessing the current state of sedation and palliative care, in the advanced chronic phase. Patients suffering from advanced chronic diseases are suffering a series of progressive changes in their health status. This implies certain needs in the moments of the end of life. Therefore, we must be prepared, not only to perform techniques such as palliative sedation, one of the most used in these in terminal phase, but also, we must also be prepared to cover all those needs that arise, throughout the different phases of the disease, starting with the preventive. For this, it is important to establish solid and clear plans, from which the health professionals, including the nursing team, can offer optimal care covering the patient in a comprehensive and multidisciplinary manner.
