Revisión sistemática: efectividad de la fisioterapia en pacientes con fibrosis quística

Abstract

RESUMEN: OBJETIVO: El objetivo de esta revisión sistemática es determinar y comparardistintos tratamientos y la eficacia que tiene el trabajo de fisioterapia enpacientes con fibrosis quística a través del análisis y estudio de la evidenciacientífica disponible sobre este tema. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: la búsqueda de artículos se realizó utilizando labase de datos MedLine. Los criterios de inclusión utilizados para la selecciónde estudios en esta revisión fueron los siguientes: ensayos clínicosaleatorizados (incluidos aquellos con un diseño cruzado), publicados desde el 1de enero de 2003, en humanos, en inglés, español o portugués. Los criteriosde exclusión fueron: artículos cuyos pacientes tuvieran otra afectación ocomplicación importante como infecciones respiratorias agudas, hemoptisis oneumotórax, que el objetivo no quedase claro o tuviese intereses personales,artículos sin grupo control, tratamientos sin la supervisión de un terapeuta enningún momento durante el estudio y artículos que no se consideraronsignificativos. Se seleccionaron 6 artículos para esta revisión. RESULTADOS: cuatro de las investigaciones obtuvieron resultados positivosen la mejora del estado basal o de la sintomatología de los sujetos. Los otrosdos estudios concluyeron que no había diferencias significativas entre el grupocontrol y el tratamiento aplicado. DISCUSIÓN: la información encontrada en los estudios elegidos tieneheterogeneidad clínica y metodológica de tal manera que no es posible realizaruna comparación entre ambos métodos. La RP se debe considerar como parte indispensable del proceso de mantenimiento, para mejorar la tolerancia alejercicio y la sintomatología de cada paciente. Es importante continuar lasinvestigaciones en este tema.

ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: The aim of this systematic review is to determine and comparedifferent treatments and the effectiveness of treatment of Physiotherapy inCystic fibrosis subjects through the analysis and study of the scientific evidenceavailable on this topic. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A search of articles was performed usingMedLine database. Inclusion criteria for the selection of studies in this reviewwere: randomized clinical trials published since 2003 in humans, in English,Spanish or Portuguese. Exclusion criteria were: articles whose patients hadother significant effect, or another major complication such as acute respiratoryinfections, hemoptysis or pneumothorax, the goal would not be clear or hadpersonal interests, or items without control groups, treatments without thesupervision of one therapist at any time of the study and items that were notconsidered significant . 6 articles were selected for this review. RESULTS: Four of the studies had positive results in improving the basal stateor symptomatology of the subjects. The other two studies found no significantdifferences between the control group and the treatment applied DISCUSSION: The information found in selected clinical studies andmethodological heterogeneity is such that you cannot make a comparisonbetween the two methods. The RP should be considered as an essential part of the maintenance process to improve exercise tolerance and symptoms of eachpatient. It is important to continue research on this topic.
