La formación del artista y el funcionamiento de la bottega en el Renacimiento florentino desde el Quattrocento hasta Vasari (1450-1550)

Abstract

RESUMEN Este trabajo tiene como principal objetivo acercarse al Renacimiento italiano para conocer cómo era la formación de los artistas y el funcionamiento de los talleres de pintura y escultura, especialmente florentinos. Explicaremos el funcionamiento del sistema gremial existente en ese momento; veremos cómo se formaban los artistas de la época en la bottega, desde sus inicios con el maestro hasta que iniciaban su trabajo en solitario; nos ocuparemos también de cómo eran la práctica artística y los materiales. Concretamente, nos centraremos en el periodo comprendido entre mediados de siglo XV y mediados del siglo XVI, siendo este el momento más destacado del Renacimiento. Sin embargo, habrá constantes referencias a los momentos inmediatamente anteriores y posteriores para subrayar las permanencias y novedades del sistema formativo que analizamos. De igual manera, se harán menciones y comparaciones con otros artistas y países, lo que nos dará una visión más global del fenómeno. Asimismo, tomaremos como ejemplo y referencia a los grandes artistas del momento como Leonardo y Miguel Ángel, y recurriremos a fuentes de la época como los tratados de Alberti, Leonardo y Cennini o el libro de Las Vidas de Vasari.

ABSTRACT The main objective of this work is to approach the Italian Renaissance to learn about the education of artists and the operation of painting and sculpture workshops, especially Florentines. We will explain the operation of the union system existing at that moment; we will see how the artists of the time were trained in bottega, from their beginnings with the teacher until they began their work alone; we will also take care of what the artistic practice and the materials were like. Specifically, we will focus on the period between the mid-fifteenth century and the mid-sixteenth century, this being the highlight of the Renaissance. However, there will be constant references to the moments immediately before and after to emphasize the permanence and novelties of the training system that we analyze. In the same way, mentions and comparisons will be made with other artists and countries, which will give us a more global vision of the phenomenon. Likewise, we will take as an example and reference the great artists of the moment such as Leonardo and Michelangelo, and we will turn to sources of the time such as the treatises of Alberti, Leonardo and Cennini or the book of Lifes of Vasari.
