Soluciones para combatir la contaminación producida por los gases de escape en un buque RO/PAX

Abstract

A pesar de que el trasporte marítimo es menos contaminante que otras opciones de transporte, la Organización Marítima Internacional está recrudeciendo las normas para combatir los cambios climáticos que estamos generando debido a la contaminación por los combustibles utilizados. Para poder llevar a cabo estas medidas se le ofrece a los armadores diferentes opciones para reducir sus emisiones, como pueden ser: construcción de motores más eficientes, mejores diseños de propulsores, combustibles menos contaminantes, torres de lavado, etc. En este trabajo vamos a estudiar los diferentes sistemas para reducir las emisiones y nos centraremos en la elección del sistema o sistemas más adecuados para poder reducir las emisiones de NOx y SOx para nuestro buque en estudio y así poder cumplir las normas internacionales.

Abstract: Although maritime transport is less polluting than other transport options, the International Maritime Organization is intensifying the regulations to combat the climate changes that we are generating due to the pollution caused by the fuels used. In order to carry out these measures, shipowners are offered different options to reduce their emissions, such as: construction of more efficient engines, better designs of propellants, less polluting fuels, scrubbers… In this project we will study the different systems to reduce emissions and we will focus on the most appropriate system or systems to reduce NOx and SOx emissions for our vessel under study and thus be able to meet international standards.
