El papel de Enactus en el fomento del emprendimiento social: en el caso de Reino Unido y España

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este trabajo se centra en las empresas sociales y su impacto sobre el mundo, concretamente, centrado en el Reino Unido y España. Encontramos la definición que ofrece la Comisión Europea sobre las empresas sociales encargadas de realizar labores sociales, medio ambientales y humanas, con la ayuda del emprendimiento y que pueden trabajar en forma de cooperativas, empresas privadas u organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro. La misma definición ofrecida por la CE es la que utiliza el gobierno español, debido a que nuestro país no cuenta con una definición propia de empresas sociales y existe un gran desconocimiento sobre todo lo referente a este tipo de empresas en comparación con el Reino Unido. Por otro lado, en el Reino Unido que tiene su propia definición de empresa social y dónde se observa un conocimiento muy superior, cuenta con numerosos sistemas y mecanismos de apoyo y con un tipo de marca propia con la que operan sus empresas. En ambos países, se observa como la barrera más significativa que presentan las empresas sociales es la falta de financiación. Una vez estudiado de que se tratan este tipo de empresas y el impacto que suponen para la comunidad, se lleva a cabo un estudio sobre una organización en concreto, Enactus. Se trata de una organización en la que trabajan estudiantes universitarios en diferentes países, apoyados por la financiación de algunos líderes empresariales para conseguir un mundo mejor y más sostenible. Los proyectos tienen una estrecha relación con los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible, luchando por los mismos objetivos para mejorar la vida en el mundo. Podremos ver cómo los proyectos que se llevan a cabo en Enactus afectan positivamente a las comunidades en las que se aplican y coinciden con el significado que tienen las empresas sociales. Finalmente, se proponen dos proyectos que se podrían llevar a cabo en la Universidad de Cantabria, convirtiéndola en la primera universidad española en pertenecer a Enactus.

ABSTRACT: This work explane in what are the social business and their impacts on the world. Concretely, it’s centred on United Kingdom and Spain. We can find the definition that the European Commission offers on the social business that realice social perform, environmental and human tasks with the help of entrepreneurship. They can work in the shape of cooperatives, private companies or non-profit organizations. The same definition offered by the EC is the one used by the Spanish government because our country has no own definition of social business and exist a great ignorance about everything relating to this type of companies in comparison with the United Kingdom. On the other hand, United Kingdom has his own definition of social business; it’s well known how his knowledge is top. They have a lot of numerous systems and support mechanisms and a type of own brand. In both countries, it’s shown as the most significant barrier that the social business present is the lack of financing. Once, we know the meaning of this type of companies and their impacts, the study focuses on Enactus. Enactus is an organization which university students from different countries work; they are supported by the financing of some business leaders to have a better and more sustainable world. The projects are related to the Sustainable Development Goals, both fight for the same goals to improve life in the world. We will be able to see as the Enactus projects has a positive impact to the communities in those who apply and they looks like with the meaning that the social companies have. Finally, in this work we propose two projects that can be made at the University of Cantabria, it can make the first Spanish university to belong to Enactus.
