Evaluación de la Teoría de la Mente en pacientes con Trastorno del Espectro Autista en edad pediátrica: Revisión Sistemática

Abstract

RESUMEN: Introducción: Las personas con Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA) presentan déficits en la Teoría de la Mente (ToM). Esta, además de responder a la habilidad de entender y predecir los pensamientos, intenciones y emociones de otros, juega un papel fundamental en el nacimiento de las intenciones comunicativas y sus conductas concomitantes, lo que la convierte en predictor de las habilidades comunicativas. Objetivo: Llevar a cabo una revisión sistemática sobre la evidencia que provee la literatura publicada, a cerca de la evaluación de ToM en pacientes con TEA en edad pediátrica. Método: se llevó a cabo una búsqueda informatizada durante los meses de Abril y Mayo del 2017. Los estudios incluidos fueron ensayos clínicos que miden, entre otras cosas, el rendimiento de ToM en niños con TEA y DT a través de diferentes pruebas y mediciones. Resultados: una vez analizados todos los artículos, se ha comprobado que, en cuanto a las habilidades de ToM, el rendimiento ha sido mayor en los sujetos con Desarrollo Típico (DT) que en los sujetos TEA. Además, cuanto más pequeños eran los niños del grupo TEA, menor puntuación conseguían respecto a los niños con DT con los que fueron mezclados. Conclusiones: Se han desarrollado numerosos test para evaluar la ToM, pero, a pesar de ello, las diferentes formas de presentación de cada uno, hace que los resultados, en ocasiones, sean difíciles de comparar. La evaluación de este elemento es muy importante, porque permite llevar a cabo una aproximación más específica del trastorno a todas las personas y profesionales que trabajan y conviven con estos sujetos.

ABSTRACT: Background: People with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) present Theory of Mind (ToM) impairments. This beside answering to the skill of infer, understand and predict the beliefs, intentions and emotions of themselves and others, plays a fundamental role in the birth of the communicative intentions and its concomitant conducts, which turns it in prediction of the communcative skills. Purpose: To conduct a systematic review of the evidence provided by the published literature regarding the assessment of ToM in patients with ASD in pediatric age. Method: a computerized search was carried out between April and May 2017. The studies added were clinical test talking about, among other things, ToM's performance in children with TEA and DT through different test and measurement. Results: Once analyzed all the articles, there has been verified that, as for ToM's skills, the performance has been major in the subjects with TD (typical development) than in the subjects with ASD. The smaller the children of the ASD group were, the minor punctuation they were obteining with regard to the children with TD with those who were mixed. Conclusions: Numerous test to evaluate ToM has been developed, despite that, the different forms of presentatios of each one makes the results, sometime, difficult to compare. The evaluation of this element is very important, because it allows to carry out a more specific approximation of the disorder to all the people and professionals who work and coexist with these subjects.
