RESUMEN:El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar el proceso de formación de la identidad cántabra, como paso previo a la construcción de una entidad política regional, aprovechando la reformulación organizativa del Estado que se produce tras la Constitución de 1978. El trabajo examinará los antecedentes históricos de la región, su progresiva consolidación como entidad administrativa en el transcurso de los siglos XIX y XX, y la elaboración del discurso ideológico sobre la identidad regional.
ABSTRACT: The objective of the present work is to analyse the formation process of the Cantabrian identity, as previous step to the construction of a regional political entity, which take advantage of the organizational reformulation of the Spanish State that take place after the Spanish Constitution of 1978. The following academic thesis examines the historical background of the region, its progressive consolidation as an administrative entity during the XIX and XX centuries, and the elaboration of an ideological discourse on regional identity.
