Una nueva perspectiva del movimiento heterodoxo de Durango

Abstract

RESUMEN A lo largo del presente trabajo trataremos el movimiento religioso de Durango, que tradicionalmente ha llevado la consideración de herético. Enfocaremos el trabajo desde los movimientos religiosos que la historiografía ha considerado más próximos al movimiento de Durango, liderado por el franciscano Alfonso de Mella, y la situación de la Iglesia bajomedieval castellana, con las particularidades que la definen y el sentimiento religioso popular. Todo esto nos sirve para enmarcar la parte final y más importante del trabajo: dilucidar qué hay de verdad y de manipulación sobre el movimiento y tratar de arrojar luz sobre si podemos tildarlo de herejía o de reforma.

ABSTRACT Throughout this essay we will study the Durango’s religious movement, which has traditionally taken the consideration of a heresy. Firstly, we focus on the religious movements that historiography has considered closer to the heretical movement of Durango, led by the Franciscan friar Alfonso de Mella, and the situation of the late medieval Castilian church, with the peculiarities that define itself and the popular religious sentiment. All this helps us to frame the final and most important part of the essay: to elucidate what there is of truth and of manipulation on the movement and to try to shed light on whether we can brand it as a heresy or as a reform.
