Santander a finales del Antiguo Régimen: cambio social y cambio de mentalidades, la burguesía mercantil, 1770-1850

Abstract

RESUMEN: Estudio del cambio social y de mentalidad a través de la burguesía de los negocios en el Santander de 1700 a 1850. Se articula en cinco capítulos, en los que se abordan la evolución de la economía y de la sociedad santanderina; el espacio de habitación de la burguesía mercantil en el contexto del cambio urbanístico que supone el primer ensanche de Santander; las estructuras familiares y las estrategias matrimoniales del grupo; el mundo cultural de éste desde el punto de vista de las instituciones educativas a las que acuden sus miembros, sus lecturas mediante el análisis de las bibliotecas y su asistencia a diversas actividades culturales y de sociabilidad; actitudes de la burguesía hacia la muerte, expresadas a través de las invocaciones y encomendaciones religiosas, la elección de mortaja y sepultura, las honras fúnebres, los sufragios, las fundaciones de misas y capellanías y los legados de caridad.

ABSTRACT: Study of social and attitudinal change by the bourgeoisie of the business in the Santander from 1700 to 1850. Is divided into five chapters, which deal with the evolution of the economy and society Santander, the living space of the commercial bourgeoisie in the context of urban change which is the first extension of Santander, family structures and strategies group marriage, the cultural world of that from the point of view of educational institutions to attending members, their readings by analyzing libraries and attendance at cultural activities and sociability, attitudes toward the bourgeoisie death, expressed through religious invocations and instruct the choice of shroud and burial, the funeral, the vote, the foundations for Masses and chapels and charitable bequests.
