¿Cómo potenciar la Formación Profesional en esta sociedad del conocimiento?

Abstract

RESUMEN: La formación profesional constituye un pilar fundamental en el sistema educativo y laboral de esta sociedad del conocimiento, con gran importancia social y económica. Prueba de ello son el peso del personal trabajador con cualificaciones medias en el mundo empresarial y el alto interés puesto en estas enseñanzas en otros países de la Unión Europea. Sin embargo, en España la formación profesional ha sido históricamente descuidada política y económicamente, no llegando a disponer del estatus necesario para ser considerada una alternativa de estudios de interés, igual de válida que la vía académica. Debido al interés social y económico que tendría un aumento de las personas que cursan formación profesional, el objetivo de este trabajo ha sido encontrar posibles líneas de mejora que puedan ser instauradas de forma estable en este país y lleven a largo plazo a un sistema de formación profesional de calidad, coherente, consensuado, accesible y flexible, y, con todo ello, más atractivo.

ABSTRACT: Vocational education and training constitutes a fundamental pillar in the educational and labor system of this knowledge society, with great both social and economic significance. This is evidenced by the importance of workers with medium-level qualifications and the high interest placed in this education in other countries of the European Union. However, vocational education and training in Spain has historically been politically and economically neglected, not reaching the necessary status to be considered an interesting alternative of studies, as valid as the academic. Due to the social and economic interest that an increase in the number of students in vocational education and training would have, the aim in this paper has been to find possible lines of improvement that can be established in a stable way in this country and lead in the long term to a high quality, coherent, accesible, flexible and attractive vocational education and training system.
