El emprendimiento social: un camino hacia el desarrollo humano sostenible

Abstract

RESUMEN: El Emprendimiento Social es un concepto que está recibiendo atención creciente en ámbitos profesionales, académicos, políticos y gubernamentales en los últimos años. Su importancia y actualidad trasciende casi todas las fronteras del mundo, alcanzando a países y regiones en todos los niveles de desarrollo. El Emprendimiento Social se plantea como una ruta adecuada para hacer frente a las nuevas demandas sociales, a los problemas de pobreza, de desigualdad, de exclusión social y de deterioro ambiental, desarrollando valores tales como la sostenibilidad, la equidad y la responsabilidad social fundamentales para el Desarrollo Humano Sostenible. El objetivo de este trabajo, es ofrecer una panorámica general que permita un primer acercamiento al concepto de Emprendimiento Social, así como a las diferentes realidades que se cruzan y mezclan en dicho ámbito. Con ello, no se pretende profundizar en la gran variedad de aspectos de carácter económico, jurídico o sociológico que se dan en las diferentes vertientes de este fenómeno, sino trazar un mapa general que permita una primera aproximación a la materia. Se trata de contribuir con ciertos elementos teóricos y prácticos que ayuden a contextualizar el Emprendimiento Social, poniéndolo en relación con las iniciativas surgidas en el ámbito de la Economía Social, de las Organizaciones No lucrativas y de la Economía Solidaria y de resaltar la importancia de la Empresa Social como organización creada con la meta explícita de beneficiar a la comunidad y de generar valor social.

ABSTRACT: The concept of Social Entrepreneurship is reaching increasingly relevance in professional, academic, political and governmental scopes during the last years. Its importance and timeliness goes beyond country borders regardless their development levels. Social Entrepreneurship is seen as an adequate path to fulfil new social requirements, poverty, social exclusion and environmental damage’s related issues by way of developing values such as: sustainability, equity and social responsibility; essential to Sustainable Human Development. Aims of this paper are on the one hand, to present a general overview in order to get a better knowledge of the concept of Social Entrepreneurship and on the other to be aware of the different realities that converge in this field. It is not object of this study to deepen in the great variety of economic, legal or sociologic aspects that may be present in the different sides of this phenomenon but to give a general overview in order to get a first approach to this subject. The idea is about contributing with some theoretical and practical aspects that may help to contextualize Social Entrepreneurship relating it to some initiatives cropped up in fields such as Social Economy, NGOs and Supportive Economy and at the same time to highlight the importance of Social Enterprise as an organization built with the explicit task of giving benefit to society and generating social value. 4
