La evolución del alojamiento turístico en Cantabria (2008-2016)

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo de fin de grado tiene como objetivo principal estudiar la evolución del subsector del alojamiento, una de las actividades que más peso tiene dentro del sector turístico, durante el periodo 2008-2016, tanto en España como en la Comunidad Autónoma de Cantabria y proporcionar así una comparativa tanto a nivel nacional como a nivel regional. Su finalidad es definir las principales magnitudes de los diferentes tipos de alojamiento turístico –hoteles, apartamentos turísticos, campings y alojamientos de turismo rural-, a fin de obtener un balance de situación cuyas conclusiones aspiran proporcionar conocimientos de utilidad a las empresas del sector para la toma de decisiones. Para dar cumplimiento a dicho objetivo se han utilizado fuentes de información secundaria. De una forma más específica, éstas han sido principalmente el Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), base de datos que ha permitido extraer la información necesaria para el análisis de los principales indicadores que permiten definir el sector tanto desde el lado de la oferta –número y tipos de alojamiento, evolución número de plazas o personal empleado-, como desde el punto de vista de la demanda –número de turistas por tipo de establecimiento, pernoctaciones o estancia media-. El análisis efectuado permite comprobar que el sector turístico y el subsector del alojamiento turístico en particular, es un motor clave que contribuye muy positivamente a la recuperación económica de nuestro país. Así, a pesar de las consecuencias de la crisis vivida en el contexto nacional el análisis evidencia que desde el punto de vista de la oferta el número de alojamientos turísticos, las plazas disponibles y el personal empleado a lo largo del periodo 2008-2016 han aumentado. Por otra parte, desde el punto de vista de la demanda el número de turistas y las pernoctaciones en alojamientos turísticos también han experimentado un ascenso.

ABSTRACT: The main objective of this final Project is to study the evolution of the housing subsector, that is one of the most important activities of the tourism sector, during the 2008-2016 period, both in Spain and in Cantabria, and provide a national and regional comparison. Its purpose is to define the main magnitudes of the different types of tourist accommodation -hotels, tourist apartments, campings and rural tourism accommodations- in order to obtain conclusions, which will provide useful knowledges to the sector´s companies for making its decisions. To achieve this objective, secondary information sources have been used. In particular, it is mainly the National Institute of Statistics (INE), it is a database that has allowed to extract the necessary information for the analysis of the main indicators, which will define the sector supply -the number and types of accommodation, the evolution of the number of places or employed staff-, as well as the demand of the sector -the number of tourists by type of establishment, overnight stays or average stay-. The analysis also shows that the tourism sector and the tourist accommodation subsector, specifically, is the key that contributes positively to the economic recovery of our country. In this way, despite the consequences of the national crisis, the analysis shows that from the point of view of the offer; the number of tourist accommodations, available places and employed staff have increased during the 2008-2016 period. On the other hand, from the point of view of the demand; the number of tourists and overnight stays in tourist accommodation have also risen.
