Los SIG como herramienta para el análisis del impacto territorial de las Instalaciones de Telefonía Móvil: Estudio de caso aplicado al Área Urbana de Santander

Abstract

RESUMEN La línea temática principal de este Trabajo de Fin de Grado se centra en constatar la creciente aplicación de los Sistemas de Información Geográfica (SIG) en los estudios de Geografía y Ordenación del Territorio. Este documento, mediante un estudio aplicado, busca como objetivo analizar la distribución de las antenas de telefonía móvil y su afección sobre el centro urbano y la periferia consolidada del término municipal de Santander. La consecución de este objetivo comienza con un estudio que introduce los conceptos básicos de la telefonía móvil y las antenas, su composición y funcionamiento, además de su percepción fóbica por parte de la sociedad, reflejada en la controversia existente sobre los efectos en la salud por la radiación que emiten y la falta de estudios científicos que tratan el tema. Los SIG son de gran ayuda para equilibrar las necesidades de la población con el establecimiento de umbrales de seguridad, permitiendo analizar, modelizar y cuantificar la afección de la radiación en el espacio urbano, así como para detectar qué elementos considerados sensibles quedan afectados. Estos sistemas son clave y su utilidad queda demostrada, pues permiten obtener resultados de interés a partir del análisis de los patrones espaciales y de la modelización de la afección de las antenas en el espacio edificado

ABSTRACT The main thematic line of this Final Degree Project is focused on verifying the growing application of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the Geography and Land Use Planning. This document, through an applied study, aims to analyze the distribution of mobile telephony antennas and their impact on the urban center and the consolidated periphery of the municipal area of Santander. The achievement of this objective begins with a study that introduces the basic concepts of mobile telephony and antennas, their composition and functioning, as well as their phobic perception on the part of society, reflected in the existing controversy on the effects on health by the radiation they emit and the lack of scientific studies that deal with the subject. The GIS are of great help to balance the needs of the population with the establishment of safety thresholds, allowing analysis, modeling and quantifying the impact of radiation in the urban space, as well as to detect which elements considered sensitive are affected. These systems are key and their usefulness is demonstrated, since they allow to obtain interesting results from the analysis of the spatial patterns and the modeling of the affection of the antennas in the built space.
