Marx contra Buda: colonialismo, guerra y las raíces del Partido Comunista de Birmania (1930-1945)

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es determinar el proceso de construcción del marxismo birmano y su relación con otras ideologías del movimiento anticolonial opuesto al dominio británico, así como las consecuencias de la fundación del Partido Comunista de Birmania (PCB). Analizaremos el periodo formativo del PCB y sus dificultades para consolidarse ideológicamente en un entorno político, social y cultural complejo y cómo su actuación en la Segunda Guerra Mundial le permitirá erigirse en la principal fuerza política del país y tener el poder absoluto al alcance de la mano, oportunidad que desaprovechará y que marcará el inicio de su declive político.

The purpose of this article is to determine the building process of Burmese Marxism and its relation to other ideologies of the anticolonial movement, and the consequences of the founding of the Communist Party of Burma (CPB). We will analyze the formative period of the PCB and its difficulties to consolidate its ideology in a complex political, social and cultural environment and how its actions during World War II will permit the party to become the country's main political force. But the opportunity of having absolute power in its hands will be missed and will mark the beginning of his political decline.
