Los Espacios Agrarios y Forestales y la Ordenación del Territorio en Piélagos

Abstract

RESUMEN Piélagos es un municipio costero de la comunidad autónoma de Cantabria y que se encuentra próximo a Santander y Torrelavega, dos núcleos de población más grandes de Cantabria. Esto junto a la mejora y consolidación de las infraestructuras viarias han sido factores determinantes en el actual crecimiento del municipio. Los espacios agrarios y forestales de Piélagos se caracterizan en la actualidad por estar experimentando una serie de cambios influenciados por la proximidad a Santander y Torrelavega y la mejora de las infraestructuras y los tiempos de viaje entre las dos principales ciudades de Cantabria. Piélagos ha estado marcado por un continuo crecimiento poblacional, urbanístico, turístico e industrial que unido a otros condicionantes han provocado cambios en el valle. El mayor cambio que ha sufrido Piélagos es el declive del sector lácteo, la pérdida de una ganadería que durante décadas ha sido el principal motor económico del municipio, ha visto como desde principios del S XXI ha sufrido un gran declive del cual en la actualidad parece que se está recuperando (en cuanto a producción) con una reforma ganadera. Estos espacios que antes se dedicaban a la ganadería han pasado a ser suelos urbanos o industriales, y en un futuro está previsto que se pierdan mas suelos agrarios debido al Proyecto Singular de Interés Regional (PSIR) que se está desarrollando en el municipio. Esta pérdida de espacios agrarios ha sido inversamente proporcional al crecimiento urbano e industrial en la zona sur del municipio, mientras que en el norte se ha experimentado un crecimiento urbano y turístico debido a las mejoras de las comunicaciones con Santander y Torrelavega y el atractivo turístico que ofrece la zona de Liencres. Para entender estos cambios, vamos a analizar los factores que han intervenido como son la mejora de avances en infraestructuras, vamos a analizar el Plan General de Ordenación Urbana vigente en Piélagos, todas las modificaciones que ha experimentado hasta llegar a la nueva propuesta que está pendiente de ser aprobada y gracias al trabajo cartográfico podremos ver los distintos cambios.

ABSTRACT Piélagos is a coastal municipality of Cantabria and its near to Santander and Torrelavega, two largest cities of Cantabria. The improvement and consolidation of road infrastructure have been determining factors in the current growth of Piélagos. The agricultural and forestry areas of Piélagos are characterized by being undergoing a changes influenced by the proximity to Santander and Torrelavega and the improvement of infrastructures and travel times between the two main cities of Cantabria. Piélagos has been marked by a continuous population growth, urban, tourist, industrial and other conditions that caused changes in the valley. The greatest change that has experimented Piélagos its the decline of the milky sector, has suffered since the beginning of the XXI century a great decline which at present seems to be recovering (in terms of production) with a cattle reform. These areas that have been dedicated to livestock are nowadays urban or industrial areas, and in the future is expected to lose more agricultural land because of the Single Regional Interest Project that is being developed in the municipality. This loss of agricultural areas has been inversely proportional to urban and industrial areas in the southern part of Piélagos, while in the north, urban and tourist areas has been experienced due to improvements in communications with Santander and Torrelavega and the tourist attraction offers Liencres. To understand these changes, we will analyze the factors that have intervened, such as the improvement of infrastructural advances, we will analyze the General Plan of Urban Planning in Piélagos, all the modifications that have been experienced until arriving at the new proposal that is pending of being approved and with the cartographic work we will be able to see the different changes.
