El patronazgo artístico femenino: Isabella d’Este y María de Hungría como paradigmas

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado supondrá una breve aproximación a dos de las figuras más importantes del patronazgo femenino del siglo XVI: Isabella d’Este y María de Hungría, dos mujeres muy poderosas en una época caracterizada por la inestabilidad política. Los ejemplos proporcionados por el mecenazgo artístico de ambas mujeres nos servirán para conocer en qué consistía este tipo de patronazgo en la Europa del siglo XVI, así como cuales eran los objetivos de este tipo de comportamientos, en una época en que el papel de la mujer se encontraba supeditado a la figura de un hombre y cómo a través de la realización de obras descubrieron una forma de creatividad y a ampliar su poder. A continuación comprenderemos su importancia a través de la gran cantidad de obras que encargaron, además de un acercamiento a qué consistía el patronazgo femenino y la producción historiográfica que ha surgido en torno a este tema.

ABSTRACT: This TFG will be a brief approach to two of the most important female patronage figures of the sixteenth century: Isabella d’Este and Maria de Hungary, two very powerful women in an era characterized by political instability. The examples provided by the artistic activity of both women will not serve to know what this type of patronage was in the Europe of the sixteenth century, as well as what were the objectives of this type of behavior, at a time when the role of women was subordinated to the figure of a man and how through the realization of works they discovered a form of creativity and expand their power. Next we will understand its importance through the large number of works they commissioned, as well as an approach to what consisted of female patronage and the historiographical production that has arisen around this theme.
