Orígenes y evolución del feminismo y el sufragismo. El caso británico y Emmeline Pankhurst.

Abstract

RESUMEN: En este trabajo realizaré una aproximación histórica a la evolución del movimiento feminista – sufragista en los siglos XIX y XX para centrarme, a continuación, en su desarrollo en Gran Bretaña y dedicando un apartado especial a la figura de Emmeline Pankhurst. El trabajo abordará, por tanto, los diversos orígenes y antecedentes del feminismo-sufragismo (en el siglo XVIII), y estudiará las principales organizaciones y movimientos en pro del sufragio femenino en el ámbito angloamericano. Se destacarán las principales reivindicaciones, estrategias, debates, luchas, contradicciones y logros de un movimiento complejo y rico, reflejados igualmente en la trayectoria biográfica y política de una de sus principales líderes: Emmeline Pankhurst.

ABSTRACT: In this work I will make a historical approach to the evolution of the feminist - suffragist movement in the XIXth and XXth centuries, to focus particularly in its developement in Great Britain and dedicating a special section to the figure of Emmeline Pankhurst. The work will deal with the diverse origins and antecedents of the feminism-suffragism (in the XVIIIth century) and I will study the main organizations and movements fighting for women's suffrage. My work will highlight the main vindications, strategies, debates, contradictions struggles and achievements of a complex and rich movement, reflected equally in the biographical and political trajectory of one of its main leaders: Emmeline Pankhurst.
