La profesión enfermera en España : proyectando el futuro tras 40 años de titulación universitaria

Abstract

En el horizonte de la profesión enfermera en España comienzan a apreciarse cambios significativos derivados de la integración, hace ahora cuarenta años, de los estudios en el marco universitario. En este proceso, un hito fundamental ha sido la consecución del Grado, otorgando así la posibilidad de realizar estudios de Posgrado y Doctorado, logrando el reconocimiento pleno de la Disciplina en la investigación. Este trabajo pretende reconocer los cambios acaecidos en la enfermería durante el transcurso de los años desde su entrada en la universidad y su repercusión en el futuro profesional. A lo largo de este tiempo, las enfermeras y enfermeros han realizado un considerable esfuerzo por adaptarse a los cambios y dar a la población una respuesta de cuidados acorde con sus necesidades. Se han conseguido notables avances en este campo, entre los que destacan la prevención de enfermedad y promoción de la salud, la gestión de los pacientes crónicos y la creación de nuevas figuras para afrontar la situación. Sin embargo, para adecuarse completamente a los nuevos tiempos, la Enfermería debe reclamar aquellas competencias que le corresponden y dejar claro cual es su lugar dentro de la sociedad.

From the perspective of Nursing in Spain it is beginning to be appreciated significative changes derivated from the integration, forty years ago, of its studies in the university framework. In this process, one of its fundamental milestones has been the achievement of the University Degree, granting the possibility of accomplishing the Postgraduate and Doctorate, reaching full recognition of the Discipline in the research’s field. From this point of view, the making of this Project aims to recognize the changes that had taken place in Nursing since its entry in the university and its repercussion in its future. Over this time, nurses have performed a remarkable effort in order to adapt to the changes and to give the population the attendance they need. A lot of progress has been made in this field, it is important to highlight the preventive healthcare and health promotion, the management of chronic patients and the creation of new figures to face the situation. However, in order to adapt completely to the new times, Nursing must demand those competences that correspond it and make clear its place in the society.
